Dr. Ann McCampbell

Ann McCampbell, MD is a solo practitioner based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She describes herself as an environmental health and chemical sensitivity consultant. Dr. McCampbell earned her medical degree from UCLA and completed post-graduate training in internal medicine, later practicing in the field of women’s health before developing severe multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) in 1989. Her work since then has been focused almost entirely on MCS education, advocacy, and consultation.

Dr. McCampbell is one of the most directly relevant practitioners for people navigating chemical sensitivities. She has personal lived experience with severe MCS and has spent over 25 years as a leading chemical sensitivity and disability advocate. She was a founding board member of the Chemical Sensitivity Foundation and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Task Force of New Mexico. Her published writings cover topics including pesticide sensitivities, safe housing, MCS in medical and school settings, and care of hospitalized MCS patients. She is notably not a functional medicine practitioner in the clinical treatment sense; rather, her value lies in deep, firsthand knowledge of MCS and the environmental factors that drive it.

Dr. McCampbell offers phone consultations for people with chemical sensitivity and other environmentally related illnesses. Her services include providing information, referrals, and support; helping clients find and work with local and environmental medicine physicians; explaining lab tests, medical procedures, and treatments; researching safer alternatives; advocating for disability accommodations; and assisting with creating less-toxic home and work environments. She does not provide direct medical care such as diagnosis or treatment. Consultations are available by phone, Skype, or Zoom, and she can initiate calls to clients in the U.S. and Canada. She also offers medical-legal consultations in cases involving chemical sensitivity and environmentally related illness, including matters related to Social Security, workers’ compensation, veterans benefits, workplace accommodations, and housing.

Dr. McCampbell does not accept medical insurance.
