Carpathia Collaborative
Carpathia Collaborative is a large multidisciplinary functional medicine practice in Dallas, Texas, co-founded by Dr. Margaret Christensen, MD, FACOG, IFMCP, ABOIM, and Dr. Heidi Iratcabal, ND, IFMCP. Both founders are certified Functional Medicine practitioners, and the practice describes its work as utilizing Functional Medicine principles to treat root causes of illness rather than just managing disease. Carpathia is home to one of the largest concentrations of IFM-certified practitioners in the United States, with a clinical team that includes functional medicine medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, a functional medicine chiropractor and neurology expert, nurse practitioners, dietitians, registered nurses, and a massage and craniosacral therapist.
Carpathia Collaborative is an outstanding fit for The Filtery’s Non-Toxic Directory, rooted in the founders’ own experience with environmentally acquired illness. Dr. Christensen’s interest in functional medicine began after she and her family experienced years of unexplained chronic illness, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, severe anxiety, and ADD, which were eventually traced to undetected biotoxin mold exposure in their home. She has spent two decades educating clients and colleagues about root-cause, whole-systems medicine, and her clinical writing addresses topics such as mold and mycotoxins in depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and addiction. The practice’s broader clinical focus considers how environment, nutrition, genetics, and lifestyle factor into chronic conditions including hormonal imbalance, autoimmune disease, gastrointestinal challenges, fertility, and long-haul COVID.
Carpathia offers a Whole Life Health Plan addressing mind, body, and spirit through medical, nutritional, and lifestyle therapies alongside emotional support, and the practice emphasizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary case-review approach among its practitioners. Services include intensive detoxification and nutrition therapies, coaching, and yoga, in addition to standard functional medicine consultations. The practice operates an onsite teaching kitchen, yoga studio, and education library that also serves as a venue for community learning events. For patients who do not live near the Dallas clinic, practitioners are available for phone and virtual consultations, and the practice also offers The Ultimate Detox, a self-paced six-week online program covering gut health, lymphatic flow, stress reduction, and how to choose non-toxic personal care and cleaning products. The website does not mention insurance acceptance, HSA/FSA eligibility, or a free discovery call.
