Fragrance Free Guesthouse
Fragrance Free Eco-House is a recently built, architect and artist designed guesthouse located in Portland, Oregon, in the Hawthorne/Clinton/Division Street neighborhood. The 650-square-foot space accommodates up to 4 guests, with one bathroom and a sleeping loft that includes a king-sized bed and two pull-out twin trundle beds. The first floor features an open-plan living area, dining area, and kitchen, and the bathroom includes FSC fir paneling, Italian marble, and a skylit soaking tub.
The guesthouse is designed and maintained for guests with chemical sensitivity (MCS) and is described as fragrance-free. According to the listing, every material used in construction meets Green Guard Gold certification standards for indoor air quality. The space also includes a whole-home air filtration system intended to provide clean indoor air regardless of outdoor air quality, as well as a carbon and HEPA Vent-A-Hood cooking ventilation system in the kitchen. The design draws inspiration from the owners’ time living in Norway.
Additional amenities include an induction cooktop with Liebherr, Miele, and Asko appliances, a washer and dryer, TV and wifi, and a dining table that converts into a small ping pong table. The location is walkable to grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and cinemas, and is on a major bus line roughly ten minutes by car from downtown Portland. The space requires the ability to use stairs and is not wheelchair accessible.
