Sparrow

Sparrow is a clean-air salon and spa located at 3652 W. Wrightwood Avenue in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. Hair services include haircuts, hair color, gloss, styling, and detox treatments. The salon also offers massage (including Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, sports, and manual lymphatic drainage), brow and lash services, facial waxing, and holistic facials. Sparrow uses genderless pricing and offers one-on-one care across all services, without the use of assistants.

Every styling product used at Sparrow is 100% synthetic fragrance free, including products used for haircuts, brow and lash services, waxing, facials, and massage. The salon’s hair color line is Oway, which is PPD-free, resorcinol-free, ammonia-free, and cruelty-free, with less than 1% synthetic fragrance. The salon also eliminates aerosols from all hair care products, minimizes plastic packaging (including using glass for color developer), and participates in a program that recycles salon-specific waste including caps, gloves, foils, hair, and unused color. Sparrow has also developed its own professional haircare line, s4e (Sparrow for Everyone), which is available at the salon and at sparrowforeveryone.com.

Sparrow explicitly describes itself as a salon for sensitive people and accommodates clients with fragrance sensitivities, sound sensitivities, and mobility needs. The salon offers silent appointments, private session options, and is fully wheelchair accessible with size-inclusive seating and electrically lowering treatment tables.
