Clean By Crystal is a private, one-on-one hair studio located at 1216 Broadway in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Services include women’s and men’s haircuts, full and partial root color coverage, hair toning, highlights (including balayage and foil techniques), blowouts, a thio-free enzyme perm, a keratin smoothing treatment, keratin glue-bonded extensions, formal event styling, and makeup artistry.

The studio’s product selection is built around a clean beauty philosophy. The color used for root coverage services contains 99% natural organic ingredients, is free of PPD, DEA, MEA, resorcinol, and added alcohol, and contains only a low amount of ammonia derived from corn. The highlight services use a special combination of enzyme, peroxide-free color developers and a clay lightener formula. Across all retail and styling products, the studio avoids harsh preservatives, sulfates, and parabens, and each product is personally tested by the lead stylist across different hair types before being stocked. The studio also carries the Vieso product line, among others.

The studio space itself features air-purifying plants and filtered water, and is described as a private, one-on-one environment. Stylist Crystal Carrero has over 19 years of experience working with diverse hair textures and skin types, with a focus on natural texture, low-maintenance color, and wash-and-go cuts. Complimentary in-studio consultations are available for haircuts and extensions. Clean By Crystal is an in-person studio.
